The largest SPCA in the Free State, serving Manuaung and surrounding areas, Bloemfontein SPCA is a registered non-profit organization (002-592 NPO ) and a member of the National Council of SPCAs.

We rescue abused and neglected domestic, farm and wild animals, provide a shelter for stray and unwanted animals, offer a pet adoption facility, and educate pet owners on animal care.

At the SPCA, our mission is to protect animals from cruelty, neglect, and suffering. Every day, we rescue animals from heartbreaking situations—abandonment, abuse, and environments where their basic needs were ignored. These animals don’t come to us from ideal circumstances; many have been seized through legal action or rescued from the streets.

We are not a pet shop or a hotel for animals. Adoption is not a transactional experience—it’s a life-changing commitment. When people come to “pick a puppy,” we gently remind them that adoption is about giving an animal a second chance, not finding the most convenient companion.
