Our motto is Ora et Labora, a Latin/Christian mysticism and it means “pray and work”. The slogan is credited to St Benedict, an abbot or head of an abbey of monks. For Benedict, prayer and work were inseparable and had to be totally balanced. In his rule book, he organised the monks’ daily routines between communal and private prayer, studying and manual labour.

Benedict’s philosophy has been successfully applied by societies all over the world, dating as far back as the middle ages (between the fifth and 15^th century). As they say hard work never killed anyone. So pray before and after an exhausting day of exerting yourself as you educate the nation. It will yield great results in the end. Ora et Labora. Pray and work. It’s an all-conquering partnership.
