Dr D Murphy is situated on 64 Emerald Crescent Fish Hoek 

Dr Desmond Murphy qualified as a dentist in 1990 from the University of the Western Cape (UWC). He spent 14 years in private dental practice in Retreat, Cape Town. During that time, he met and married his beautiful wife. They have been happily married for over 25 years and have two adult children Gabriella and Timothy.

In 2004, he left private practice and enrolled into the 4-year postgraduate program in orthodontics at UWC. This being a fulltime program, he sold his dental practice and qualified as an Orthodontist in 2008. The same year he opened orthodontic practices in Fish Hoek, Strand and Hermanus, all along the beautiful coastline of the Western Cape.

Education has always been a priority in his life and that is why he is still heavily involved in education. Education is the key that unlocks so many doors on the path to success. He serves as the Chairman of the board on Rainbow, an Early Childhood Development Center in Masiphumelele, an informal settlement in Fish Hoek, Cape Town. He has also served as Chairman of the School Governing Board (SGB) of Bergvliet High School. He has also served on the executive of the South African Society of Orthodontist (SASO), South Africa’s governing body of orthodontist. Currently he is involved with the post graduate program in orthodontics as a consultant where he is teaching the next generation of orthodontists.
